Risan Temple

Gunungkidul, is one of five districts (Yogyakarta, Sleman, Bantul, Kulonprogo) in the province of Yogyakarta which has a capital city named Wonosari. For some communities in Yogyakarta, Gunungkidul identical with Hill Pathuk, drought, and a variety of stunning beaches (because there are reefs). But who would have thought if Gunungkidul also has many archaeological sites, including the Temple Risan.terletak Candirejo Village, Kec. Semin, Kab. Gunungkidul, Yogyakarta. No wonder since ancient warrior Gunungkidul a refuge Majapahit kingdom.

The journey that I did on Saturday (02/05/2009) it is probably the craziest trip we ever made. First, not everyone is willing to travel to Gunungkidul. Due to pass that way Pathuk Hill climb high, snaking, and narrow, through the woods that are not lit at night, and avoid the cops who have no mercy cause it Gunungkidul traffic violators. But perhaps the second factor is the primary reason for the craziest, if you have a map of Yogyakarta Province please look for where the district. Semin located. Do not be surprised if the district is located far away in the east near the border of Yogyakarta - Central Java. Just to give an illustration, the distance from the city of Yogyakarta to Wonosari was about 60 km while the distance from Wonosari to the district. Semin was about 30 km.
  1. Departing from the city of Yogyakarta, we follow Jl. Jogja-Wonosari as far as 60 km to reach the city Wonosari. During the trip, please be patient.
  2. In the city Wonosari stay just follow directions on the green signs to get to the district. Semin.
  3. Arriving in the district. Semin, just follow this map in addition to that given by Mr. Police Gunungkidul kind: D.

Risan Temple same conditions as the small temples in general. There is no information board at the location of this temple. Even there is no temple nameplate Risan. However, the location of this temple has been fenced in, but unfortunately there is no officer of the guard BP3. During this Risan temple guarded by local residents only. Temple is a Buddhist temple Risan. This temple seems to have the entrance facing west. The rocks that make up this temple is divided into two types, namely human shaped stone and natural stone. Similar conditions also we have encountered while traveling in the chapel at Temple Complex Ijo.

Risan temple itself is located on a small hill. On the south side of the temple, there is a foundation stone. Perhaps the former pavilion that was once used by monks when worship here. Because the location of the temple is always close to water sources, we are curious to find considering Gunungkidul was identical to the drought. But we search in vain, because there are no springs around the temple. After an hour we were there, we decided to go back to Yogyakarta via Sukoharjo. Got lost though, because we were idly looking Sirih Temple which is said to exist in the district. Weru, Kab. Sukoharjo, Central Java, but did not find it. Existing village roads in the district. Sukoharjo also in severely damaged condition, in contrast to the village road in Gunungkidul which is only 100 meters from the border Sukoharjo-Gunungkidul. With a fairly remote location of the temple like this, do not be surprised if the government's attention shifted to the temples which are within easy reach.
