Gunung Wukir Temple

Sunday afternoon (14/12/2008), when I saw the clear sky after the rain, suddenly feeling the urge to wander into the temple reappeared. I had contacted Andreas, ask for the company. But he refused because his residence overcast sky, Well, if this situation is I have to find another temple location. But where? Almost all the temples of Prambanan are near our area "jajah". I remember e-mail sent by my father who called a local temple in Magelang, Central Java. Hmmm ... why not try it huh?

A Self to MagelangAlone I set out from Yogyakarta to Magelang, into a temple, situated in the hamlet Find, Kadiluwih Village, Kec. Greetings, Kab. Magelang, Central Java. Actually there are many options temple in Magelang regency interesting to explore, such as the Temple Ngawen, Candi Asu, Temple Barn, Pawon, etc.. However, given the weather, time, personnel, and specific reasons such as some temples existing in-booking to explore the temple that day was selected on the Temple Mount Wukir the fairly close from Yogyakarta. Here is a guide to the Temple Mount Wukir, which according to my car speedometer is about 22 km from the city of Yogyakarta.
  1. Because the goal to Magelang, yes just follow Jl. Jogja-Magelang until arriving at the border monument Yogyakarta-Central Java.
  2. You are now in the Central Java province, precisely in the district in the district of Magelang and Salam. Well, now living in the village looking for Hamlet Find Kadiluwih. Keep up Jl. Jogja-Magelang, until you meet with Salam District Office on the left side of the road. A few meters after the office is manned by red-light junction (actually this the first red light after passing the border of Yogyakarta-Central Java). At the junction turn left.
  3. You are now in the Village Kadiluwih, exactly on Jl. Nglurak. Follow the road about 2 km, you will meet with a small T-junction on the right side of the course there is a grocery store "Thimur". Turn to the right, and there are a few meters after the fork to the left where the road is not paved. Yes, turn left into this road you will reach the hamlet Find.

Temple on the Mount in the Central Forest
Temple Mount Wukir was in a, whether it is mountain-hill-mound located in the "back" of this village. To reach there, visitors must walk, so please park your vehicle on the residence of local residents. I parked in one of our citizens who are also into the garage. Ah, feel the atmosphere of this village remembered moments of corruption first, because it is so-so science-village-people socialization kupraktekkan again. According to the mother I met, to get to the Temple Mount with the father Wukir better caretaker named Mr. Widodo. The location of his home not far from the mother house. But I fail to see Mr. Widodo because his house seemed empty. According to the mother I met Mr. Widodo fatigue probably because since the morning following the recitation.

What may make, I'm forced to walk alone to the temple following the instructions given by the mother. Unexpectedly, some village children come with me to go to the temple. Feeling like with the children of South Kebondalem only. Fortunately, there are children, Ahmad, Yuli, and Vishnu, so I do not stray when exploring the bamboo forest. Duh, again have to outbound in the forest, such as going to the Temple Miri alone. But the scene in the hamlet Find also no less beautiful, there is a green expanse of rice fields and rivers suitable for spot photography (if not cloudy). Long story short, after running about ten minutes, we arrived to a temple complex located on the hill.

Well groomed
When you first arrive at the temple complex, the shadow will have vanished temple is overgrown with weeds. There is a park on the hill, guardhouse, complete with information boards. The temple complex is surrounded by a stretch of bamboo trees as if to give the impression of an exclusive, that here is the abode of the gods. Why Temple Mount complex seasri Wukir could this, perhaps because Wukir Temple Mount is the oldest Hindu temple in Magelang district. According to Ahmad's story, before I came here there are some Hindus who worship here. No wonder the temple complex is well maintained.

Temple Mount Wukir has one of the main temple facing the east and three ancillary temples. On the right chapel overlooking the main temple, a statue of Nandi, which is a mount of Shiva. Chapel on the left and right, allegedly containing a statue of the goose (mounts Brahma) and the statue of Garuda (a mount of Vishnu). Unfortunately the two statues is missing. None of the buildings in this temple complex that stands intact. Main temple, leaving only the floor only and a yoni in the middle. When viewed from its size, it is likely the main temple is almost as large as the main temple on the Temple Sambisari. In the vicinity of the main temple there is the temple stones which are placed neatly. I did not find any other statue, which is just some sort of water container mortar. Maybe this is associated with Hindu prayer ceremony which use water.

Inscription Canggal
One thing that makes this temple is different from other temples is the temple is a place of discovery of the inscription is dated 732 AD Canggal, lettered Pallawa and speaking Sanskrit. Inscription of King Sanjaya is told about the heroic conquest of his enemies. King Sanjaya is told and then construct a phallus on top of a hill as a sign of victory. Presumably this temple is a place of establishment of the phallus. Unfortunately, the phallus is not there. Now, Inscriptions Canggal stored at the National Museum in Jakarta.

Rain = Done
Since the rain began to fall, it's time I herded the children Hamlet Get me to end the adventure in the afternoon that day. The lack of literature on the internet about this temple makes me excited to go here. However, there was also a blogger who reviews the Temple Mount Wukir, though their number is very small. Yes, sometimes I wish there was a lot of literature about the temple, whether it's in bookstores or on the internet. Hopefully the existence of this article can help enrich the treasures of literature. The next adventure is still in Magelang you know! Look forward to ya!

Drizzle in the Forest and in the Heart ...
Ah, drizzle it into the main enemy no.1 case of outdoor photography. If forced, it just packs his camera tightly with waterproof coating such as plastic. Why is the liver into the drizzle? Perhaps because the moment to expect diminished due to the raindrops, or moments that do not necessarily expect amid uncertain weather? What is clear is not funny when I have to berbasah-basahan in the woods when the rain!
